AFTER 2002 WEEK 5 & Divisionals......
The BSR @ BBT meet was one of the few grudge meets this year. BSR started out by going crazy in the fly and the freestyle. Then BBT started to crawl back up in the breast, but was shutdown in the back and I.M. event and couldn't re-gain any momentum in the relay. Overall, BSR controlled most of the meet leaving BBT hoping they had a good chance for second in the division. But they would have to work for it - in fact here are the results going into Divisionals, BSR 5-0 8 pts, BBT 3-2 5 pts, WPT 3-2 5 pts, TH 2-3 2 pts, WLS 1-4 .5 pts, and TP 1-4 .5 pts. So next week Divisionals will be very tight.
2002 Divisionals....
Wow! What a show as BSR, WPT, and BBT finished 1,2,3 to sweep
the A division. And there was a 2.5 point difference between 4th and 6th.
WLS and TP TIED for 4th and TH got 6th leaving them all three with a
season total of 2 points. So in order of finish BSR, WPT, BBT, TH, WLS,
and TP (TH, WLS, and TP tied but TH beat WLS and TP and WLS beat TP so that's
how they got the final ranking). Now for the swimmers, BSR had 3 triple
winners - Alex Smith, Emily Morse, and Aly Whittaker. The double winners were Alex
Chen and Michael Cooke. Over with so many perfect swims 16 people made it
to All Stars not including alternates.
P.S for the B division there was a crazy mix up with the results so somebody may not move up next year, but if someone does move up it will either be Smallwood Village Aquatic Club (SVA) or Westlake Village Swim Team (WOW).
P.P.S. ADIOS ....SEE YA NEXT YEAR
AFTER 2002 WEEK 4.....
Well after Week 4 the standings hold at BSR 4-0, BBT 3-1, WPT 2-2, TP 1-3, WLS 1-3, and TH 1-3. Today we had a yard meet which may have thrown you off ... you definitely did your fastest times considering it is a shorter pool. So for all the people who don't know what their converted time was - multiply it by 1.11. First of all I would like to congratulate all of the triple winners, who were Caitlin and Lindsey Magaw, Alex Smith, and Aly Whittaker. Another person I would like to thank is Miguel Calderon for swimming up in 13-14.
Also, in other 'A' division meets WPT breaks away for a 97 point victory over BBT and TH just out raced WLS by three points to get their first win. So next week's schedule is BSR @ BBT, WLS @ WPT, and TP @ TH. Here is a quick preview for the next two weeks. One of the big meets is TP (1-3) @ TH (1-3), because who ever loses the meet will be in or tied for last place. Another big meet is WLS (1-3) @ WPT (2-2) because if WLS loses there will be a tie for fifth place. So here is just one of many different solutions to the end of the Dual Meet Season.
BSR 5-0
8
BBT 3-2 5
WPT 3-2 5
TP 2-3
2
WLS 1-4 .5
TH 1-4
.5
AFTER THE 2002 CITY RELAYS...
Now we can all agree that the City Relay's Crescendo race were a little too close for comfort. Whitehall had a nice upset against BBT for second place. Now the team with the most winning relays was BSR with 9 including the crescendo, then BBT came in second with 8 wins, WPT 7, PRSR 3. The people who won 2 relays were, for BSR, Alex Chen, Dito Calderon, Callen Erdecky, Kristin Buter and Jessica Osborn; for BBT were Patti Schult, Mark Gannet, Nikki Shult, and Rebekah Hayes; for WPT were Erik Mitchell, AJ Hinkle, Robert Burneston, and Mallory Lepisto and alas PRSR did not have any double winners.
AFTER 2002 WEEK 2.....a 3 Point Win over TH
First of all I would like to congratulate all of the swimmers for swimming their hearts out, especially the girls who destroyed TH's girls. The Barracuda girls out scored the Dolphin girls 163 to 98. Leading the Cuda' girls to victory were Alicia Osborn and Aly Whittaker both with 3 wins. Leading the boys was Joey Osborn with 2 wins followed by Peter Cooke, Tim Deklau and John Donovan each with one first. I would also like to congratulate Christopher Casto for getting 2nd in the boys 8+under breast and TH's Shelly Vermeire for her 8+under record breaking swim. Of all the people on the team, I first would like to thank the girls relays for swimming so fast. I will see most of you at the City Relays, Tuesday
In the other meets BBT topped WLS and WPT lost to TP. All in all we had some close and scary meets Saturday but BSR stayed on top against TH and all was well.
19 June 2002 -- Pre-Season 2002
Well the sun is about to rise on a new swim season welcoming West Laurel to the A division where they’ll swim against BSR, BBT, TP, TH, and WPT. Last year was a a close fight for first when BSR edged out TP on the last event to win by one. If TP did win BSR and BBT would have been tied going into the Divisional Competition. Last year UH had a really bad stroke of luck leaving the A Division and losing their pool so we’re sorry about that. This year expect a close race for first, second, and third because WLS might be in the top three at the end of the year.
Top swimmers from other teams include Christopher Drummond, Anthony Ross, & Miguel Orellana for the TP boys. Oluwakemi Layeni, and Regina Jackson for the TP girls. Paul, Jack, Matt and Mark Gannet for the BBT boys and Christine Danielson, Jenna Gurtshaw and Janna Green for the BBT girls. Robert Burneston, Eric Mitchell and Bryant Harris for the WPT boys. Julie Lilly, Corri Deegan, and Julie and Kelly Grabarek for the WPT girls. Daniel Lucas, Camden Fuller and Patrick Husson for the TH boys. Michelle Lachance, Shelley Vermeire and Krystle Island for the TH girls. Matthew Stevens, Peter Humphries, and Daniel Turner for the WLS boys. Jessica Smith, Allison Stevens, and Tiffany Willacy for the WLS girls.
I would like also to congratulate all of the graduating 18 year olds and I would also like to congratulate the TP 8 and under relay team of M.Gentry, K.Drummond, E. Taylor, and R.Alloway on their league record last year, and Peter Humphries for his 11-12 50 back league records of 32.18 (meters) and 28.66 (yards).
