Interested in a Lifeguard or Gate Guard Job with new Pool Management Company?
As many of you know, KAM Aquatics owned by Dave Fusick has elected not to return to BSR for the 2009 season. After considering all of our options, we signed a contract with Continental Pools Inc. to manage BSR for the upcoming season. They manage many pools in the area, both large and small. All CPI employees are licensed annually in lifeguarding, first aid and CPR through their training programs with the National Safety Council and Ellis & Associates.

History
Continental Pools, Inc. was founded in 1987 as a pool
service and repair company. In 1991, CPI began providing Lifeguard
services to commercial accounts. Throughout the early nineties, CPI was
consistently growing each year and looking to refine safety practices.
In 1996, CPI began its international recruiting program through Work
Abroad. We have now partnered with Work Abroad and have our in-house
recruiters and trainers worldwide.
In 1997, CPI became a client of Ellis and Associates (www.jellis.com),
establishing the highest standards for flat-water pools in the nation.
CPI and Ellis partnered to refine the National Pool and Waterpark
Lifeguard Training program to a hybrid version for these flat-water
pools. This effort has forever changed the safety standards for these
types of pools as the 10/20 Rule of Protection is now universally
recognized as the proper way to conduct patron surveillance at guarded
swimming pools. In recent years, CPI has adopted such advanced training
techniques like Vigilance Awareness Training (VAT) and the "5 Minute
Strategy".
Beginning in 2002, we successfully pursued and developed relationships
with some of the most prestigious private clubs in the
Baltimore/Washington region. Recently we designed and performed a very
ingenious renovation solution for a swimming pool at a prominent private
golf club, ultimately saving the members millions. Our renovation
replaced the engineer's recommendation to replace the entire facility.
CPI continues to be on the cutting edge of technology, in 2004 CPI was
the first pool management company to reduce excessive paper forms by
performing and transferring a significant amount of our data collection
electronically with PDA's for all field personnel.
At CPI the future is bright. We are a mid-Atlantic leader in swimming
pool services with four market leading service lines, more than $10
million in annualized revenues and more than 1,000 employees worldwide.
The Continental Pools, Inc. lines of business include commercial pool
management, residential pool services, property improvement services and
international recruitment services. We continue to increase our market
share, through consistently pleasing our clients. If you would like to
learn more about us, just ask, it's a great story and we love telling
it.

Safety Culture at Continental Pools, Inc.
Accidents are preventable, and unacceptable in today's work environment.
Therefore, Continental Pools, Inc. (CPI) is committed to an accident free work
environment under the guidelines of our "Zero Accident Philosophy" or "ZAP"
for short. CPI is dedicated to the goal of eliminating all swimming pool
incidents and workplace injuries. We will achieve this goal by continuously and
systematically improving our safety awareness, providing consistent training,
reducing hazards, and modifying unsafe behaviors. Safety is everything to us at
CPI; and it's peace of mind for you, the client and employee, knowing you're
doing what's right.
CPI is responsible for promoting a culture of safety at all of our swimming
pools and work sites. We encourage accident prevention and continually strive to
improve our safety performance.
All employees have a personal responsibility to understand, promote, and follow
safe practices to ensure that their actions will not cause incident or injury to
themselves or to others. Working together effectively requires knowledge and
understanding of procedures, safe ways of lifeguarding, consistent training,
safety awareness and proper attitudes.
CPI's annual lifeguard training program, which includes safety rules and
procedures, has been prepared to serve as protocol to help all lifeguards
provide a safe environment.
Safety Auditors conduct unannounced inspections of the workplace environment and
they will be rewarding positive safety behavior with our "ZAP" wristbands.
Regional Managers also will be rewarding positive safety behavior with our "ZAP"
wristbands. The Regional Managers will also take into account the overall safety
of your facility, health department compliance and correctable physical hazards.
Supervisors and the staffing department will work together on this. Supervisors
can nominate up 5 "ZAP" recipients per week to the staffing department for
positive safety behavior. We will be looking for staff that is following the
schedule to maintain the pool as fully staffed at all times, opening the pool
safely by preparing the facility and working faithfully towards the goal of
overall safety and following site specific safety rules. Employees are also
responsible to notify their supervisor of potential or existing hazards to
health or safety.
Our staff wears the "ZAP" wristbands proudly, because it is they "the safe
employees" who make the difference in the real lives of people in our care. The
"ZAP" wristband reward also registers them for monthly drawings to win prizes
throughout the summer.
